In an effort to positively impact the youth in our community with pure thinking, Choices for Women is partnering with others to form the P.U.R.E. Group. Group participants are People Upholding Relationships with Encouragement. The mission of P.U.R.E. is to unite people, groups and organizations with the purpose of establishing healthy relationships (i.e. friends, courting, marriage and family) from pre-adolescence and into adulthood, with education and encouragement. We want young people to know about their right to make pure choices for their own lives. The objective: Provide parents, teachers, school administration and church leaders with tools and effective programs to teach students and young adults about building healthy relationships, including respect for self and others. Come with your youth group and leaders for a night of fellowship and a wonderful move “Sarah’s Choice”.

Yesterday a client brought in her two children, approximately age 8 and 9. The Client Advocate shared the Gospel (it really is GOOD NEWS!) with them and both of the children prayed to receive Christ.

Later that day, the same Client Advocate met with a client who tole her, “I’m a Christian,” when asked about her beliefs. The CA asked her to articulate what that meant and she could not do it. So, she went through the Gospel presentation with her and said, “If you truly believe, you will want to profess that to God at some point, or today.” To which the client responded, “Well, I should probably go ahead and do that now, shouldn’t I?”

So, the Kingdom welcomed three new believers yesterday! Both of these families can celebrate New Birth along with the Birth of our Savior this year!

The Gospel really is GOOD NEWS! Let’s make sure we are pressing in and sharing the truth – A Savior has been born, He is Christ our Lord!

Have a Blessed CHRISTmas!

A Note to Our Choices for Women Partners in Ministry:

As we close out 2009 we want to thank you for your faithfulness to this ministry; a commitment that is clear through your financial support. We prepare for 2010 with anticipation, knowing God has a plan for this ministry to continue touching lives with the hope of Christ; to continue changing hearts – and to continue saving lives in the process.

In essence, Choices for Women is here to build a wall of protection for women and families in this area facing unplanned pregnancies. We want to be the first choice for women, a choice of hope and a place where they can learn of the empowering choice of life, both physical and eternal.

We’re together in a powerful endeavor

Ours is a great calling, to be sure. In today’s political, social and economic climate, defending the lives of children with love and conviction is – quite honestly – difficult. But we’re in this together. God has placed us in this moment not to decry this calling as a burden, but to take it on as the clarion challenge of our generation – and to succeed in truly turning our culture toward life.

Client numbers have nearly doubled from 2008. Unfortunately, our finances have not increased at the same pace. But – despite the challenges – our plan is to continue moving forward as a ministry. When it comes to matters of life, there is no room for retreat.

Launching Choices for Women into the New Year

At year-end, your special gift will give us a significant boost as we close out this record-setting year and set our course for 2010. If this is possible for you, we would appreciate your remembering Choices for Women. If you are giving monthly, perhaps you will consider a “13th Gift” at this time, matching your regular investments in this ministry with an extra gift. If you give at other intervals, you may want to join many others who are planning to match a major gift from the last 12 months as we enter the Christmas season. Every gift is appreciated and every gift makes a difference.

With Christmas upon us, there is much to be thankful for. We are thankful for you and your heart for this ministry. It is – to be sure – an encouragement.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this letter. In the days ahead I look forward to sharing with you how through your gifts Choices for Women is truly touching hearts, saving lives – and in our corner of the world – creating a culture of life in America.

Committed for Life,

Rose Condra, Executive Director

Mrs. Sandra Naugle, Board Treasurer

Film Review by Eric “the hat” Highland

When was the last time that you watched a movie that challenged your convictions, caused you to reflect on the choices you’ve made in life, and – at the same time – inspired you to purity and godliness?

The film stars Austin Kearney as Caleb Hogan, and Victoria Emmons as Rachel Morton – two students attending Patrick Henry College and preparing for the National Moot Court Championship.

Their argument: Overturn Roe v. Wade.

The agreement: If Caleb wins the National Championship, his family will pay for the rest of his education at Patrick Henry.

The twist: Caleb’s mother is a high-powered attorney, simultaneously arguing a case on abortion in the Supreme Court… from a pro-choice standpoint.

The surprise: You’ll have to watch the film – I’m not giving it away. Though Caleb believes in the pro-life stance, if he argues the point and is defeated he stands to lose the competition and his mother’s support. If he doesn’t argue to overturn Roe v. Wade, he stands to lose his integrity… and Rachel.
