Choices for Women Resource Center has always been the heart and passion of Dr. Steve Faith. In December 2003, this passion took off and two months later a Board of Directors was enlisted. As Director of Church and Community Ministries for the Southeastern Indiana Baptist Association and a native of New Albany, Dr. Faith knew the needs and the challenges for a new ministry.
The Board formed key partnerships with Right to Life of Southern Indiana and a Pregnancy Resource Group in Texas. An ultrasound machine was procured and an office was leased (amusingly in that order).
The Open House was held for the first 900 square-foot space on September 1, 2004, with many churches and community leaders represented. Just one year later, CFW expanded to a second suite to offer more practical help in caring for children, including clothing and other infant needs. Because of the faithfulness of volunteers and value of services, CFW quickly outgrew the newly-expanded space.
Once again, the Lord provided above and beyond our imagination with the purchase of property on Spring Street. The current location at 2019 E. Spring Street boasts two buildings. One is our office and one is our Blessing Boutique. A third building which was on the property when it was purchased was demolished in September 2009 with a vision to add an education wing onto the office building in its place.
Choices for Women has also given birth. In January 2008 a new center in Madison, Indiana, Choices for Women of Jefferson County, opened for clients.
This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes!
